THE SCHOOL
Wilson Hill Academy is a college preparatory,
co-educational, independent, liberal arts online
school covering grades 5-12. It was founded in
2013 on the classical Christian educational
model. Total enrollment is 988 students. The
June, 2018, graduating class numbered 20
students, representing approximately 30% of all
seniors. The average class size is about 16.
WHA is accredited by the Southern Association
of Colleges and Schools Council on
Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS
CASI), an accreditation division of AdvancED.
WHA is a member of the Association of
Classical and Christian Schools and the Society
of Classical Learning. WHA courses have been
approved by the NCAA.
MISSION STATEMENT
Wilson Hill Academy exists to provide college-
bound students with a classical and Christian
education founded upon and informed by a
biblical worldview; equipping them to know,
love, and practice that which is true, good and
beautiful, and preparing them to live obedient,
fruitful lives in the service of God and man.
TEACHING STAFF
Teachers are chosen for their expertise in their
subject area and for their experience in
teaching. Of the 36 teachers who teach in the
Upper School, 14 hold Master’s Degrees, 3
hold Ph.D.’s, and 2 hold an M.D.
STUDENT BODY
Wilson Hill Academy has a diverse student
body of independent learners from most of the
50 states in the United States and from the
following countries: Germany, Canada, Mexico,
Peru, Indonesia, Australia, Canary Islands,
Bermuda, United Arab Emirates, The
Netherlands, Zambia, and Puerto Rico.
!
THE ACADEMIC PROGRAM
Wilson Hill Academy teaches all subjects from
the perspective of an integrated whole in which
absolute truth, goodness and beauty are rooted
in the character of God. All courses are
designed to equip students with tools of
learning that they can apply beyond the
boundaries of any individual classroom. True
education is more about considering questions
than memorizing answers, so while the content
in each course is important, students can
expect to learn how to grapple with that content,
not just remember it until test time. Students
have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge
in particular disciplines through the offering of
Advanced Placement courses. 88% of students
taking AP Exams in May, 2018, received scores
of 3 or higher.
CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT
Students attend live online classes two days a
week using a web-based video conferencing
platform. They interact outside of class using
an online discussion board in the learning
management system. Most online classes are
limited to no more than 20 students.
