Important Health Warning About Playing Video Games
Photosensitive Seizures
A very small percentage of people may experience a seizure when exposed to certain
visual images, including flashing lights or patterns that may appear in video games.
Even people who have no history of seizures or epilepsy may have an undiagnosed
condition that can cause these “photosensitive epileptic seizures” while watching
video games.
These seizures may have a variety of symptoms, including lightheadedness, altered
vision, eye or face twitching, jerking or shaking of arms or legs, disorientation,
confusion, or momentary loss of awareness. Seizures may also cause loss of
consciousness or convulsions that can lead to injury from falling down or striking
nearby objects.
Immediately stop playing and consult a doctor if you experience any of these
symptoms. Parents should watch for or ask their children about the above
symptoms—children and teenagers are more likely than adults to experience these
seizures. The risk of photosensitive epileptic seizures may be reduced by taking the
following precautions: Sit farther from the screen; use a smaller screen; play in a well-
lit room; and do not play when you are drowsy or fatigued.
If you or any of your relatives have a history of seizures or epilepsy, consult
a doctor before playing.

During the Grand Theft Auto IV installation you will be prompted to register with
Games for Windows - LIVE and Rockstar Games Social Club. Please note that
registration into either is not mandatory to play the single player campaign.
In order to experience the maximum functionality of Grand Theft Auto IV PC,
including the ability to play multiplayer, share your own user-created videos online,
and compete and share stats with friends and other gamers, we highly recommend
that you sign up for both.

Steps:
1. Insert the ‘Grand Theft Auto IV DVD’ (Disc 1) into your DVD-ROM drive.
2. You will first need to install the Rockstar Games Social Club application.
Please follow the on-screen directions.
The installation of Rockstar Games Social Club application is required to install
and play Grand Theft Auto IV, but you are only required to log into the Rockstar
Games Social Club website for multiplayer sessions and to upload videos.
3. Next, you will begin installation of Grand Theft Auto IV. Please follow the
on-screen directions.
4. You will next be prompted to sign up for a Games for Windows - LIVE account.
If you don't already have a Games for Windows - LIVE account, you may
create one now. You will need one in order to enjoy online multiplayer and
other LIVE features.
5. You will next be prompted to sign up for your Rockstar Games Social Club
account.
Rockstar Games Social Club is a members-only destination for leaderboards,
stats, tournaments, ongoing special competitions, virtual events, MP3s and
more goodies associated with Rockstar titles.
6. Continue to follow the on-screen directions to install the game.
7. After all files have been installed, you will need to connect to the internet to
confirm that the release date of this software has passed.
If you fail to connect or need to perform this step from a different computer
with internet access, please visit www.rockstargames.com/support or
activate.rockstargames.com/?c=GTA4 for details.
8. The installation process is now complete.
9. In order to play Grand Theft Auto IV, make sure you have ‘Grand Theft Auto IV
DVD’ (Disc 1) in your DVD drive, and then launch the Rockstar Games Social
Club application.
Make sure to log into Social Club to enjoy online-enabled features. Select
‘Play’ on the main Rockstar Games Social Club application screen to launch
Grand Theft Auto IV.
10. The first time you launch Grand Theft Auto IV, you will be prompted to enter
your product key to perform a one-time product activation.
If you fail to connect or need to perform this step from a different computer with
internet access, please visit www.rockstargames.com/support for details.

Algonquin. You'd think anybody should
be able to make a good American burger
- it's just a bit of seasoned beef squashed
into a patty and deep-fried - so how do
they get away with charging $24?! At
the Superstar Café, the price certainly
isn't reflective of the quality of the
ingredients - mine had tiny flecks of blue
in it - the color they spray condemned
meat so it can't get into the human food
chain. Nice.

From fast food outlets to swanky restaurants, Liberty City offers something for
every diner. You can spend $100 watching coked-up models push salad around

on at this establishment; just don’t make any mafia jokes.

to slip off the shiny stools. A classic Purgatory dive bar, marinated in the blood, sweat
and urine of drunken laborers for over a century. A ‘hidden gem’ and ‘neighborhood
secret’ that is in all the guidebooks.

Slug ‘em and toss ‘em at this classic Irish drinking spot where darts are available for
anyone who can still walk straight. Head to the Steinway Beer Garden if you think

On a quiet corner of Broker lurks the
Homebrew Café, a small neighborhood
bar with a distinctly Jamaican flavor (and
smell). Assume the goat is goat and don't
ask where the beer comes from - unless
you want to make it totally clear that you
really don't belong in here. This is a real
local hangout and you take it as you find it
- don't even think about asking to change
the tunes or complaining about the
constant haze over the pool table. They
take the smoking ban about as seriously
as they take the local police. This is a
bar where it’s very easy to lose track of
time…a few deep breaths, a couple of
glasses of Ragga Rum and suddenly it’s
light outside and time to go to work.

The best way to deal with problems is to drink through them and there are
plenty of watering holes around Liberty City where you can stop off for a quick
eye-opener or a liquid lunch. Many bars offer darts or pool and they all go by the

fights with the locals.

some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of or limitations on implied warranties or the limitations on the applicable statutory rights of a consumer,
some or all of the above exclusions and limitations may not apply to you.
If for any reason you find a defect in the storage medium or Software during the warranty period, Licensor agrees to replace, free of charge, any Software
discovered to be defective within the warranty period as long as the Software is currently being manufactured by Licensor. If the Software is no longer
available, Licensor retains the right to substitute a similar piece of Software of equal or greater value. This warranty is limited to the storage medium
and the Software as originally provided by Licensor and is not applicable to normal wear and tear. This warranty shall not be applicable and shall be
void if the defect has arisen through abuse, mistreatment, or neglect. Any implied warranties prescribed by statute are expressly limited to the 90-day
period described above.
Except as set forth above, this warranty is in lieu of all other warranties, whether oral or written, express or implied, including any other warranty

of the Software and all of its component parts. You can also end this Agreement by destroying the Software and all copies and reproductions of the
Software and deleting and permanently purging the Software from any client server or computer on which it has been installed.
U.S. GOVERNMENT RESTRICTED RIGHTS: The Software and documentation have been developed entirely at private expense and are provided as
“Commercial Computer Software” or “restricted computer software.” Use, duplication or disclosure by the U.S. Government or a U.S. Government
subcontractor is subject to the restrictions set forth in subparagraph (c)(1)(ii) of the Rights in Technical Date and Computer Software clauses in DFARS
252.227-7013 or as set forth in subparagraph (c)(1) and (2) of the Commercial Computer Software Restricted Rights clauses at FAR 52.227-19, as
applicable. The Contractor/ Manufacturer is the Licensor at the location listed below.
EQUITABLE REMEDIES: You hereby agree that if the terms of this Agreement are not specifically enforced, Licensor will be irreparably damaged, and
therefore you agree that Licensor shall be entitled, without bond, other security, proof of damages, to appropriate equitable remedies with respect any
of this Agreement, in addition to any other available remedies.
INDEMNITY: You agree to indemnify, defend and hold Licensor, its partners, licensors, affiliates, contractors, officers, directors, employees and agents
harmless from all damages, losses and expenses arising directly or indirectly from your acts and omissions to act in using the Software pursuant to
the terms of the Agreement.
MISCELLANEOUS: This Agreement represents the complete agreement concerning this license between the parties and supersedes all prior agreements
and representations between them. It may be amended only by a writing executed by both parties. If any provision of this Agreement is held to be
unenforceable for any reason, such provision shall be reformed only to the extent necessary to make it enforceable and the remaining provisions of this
Agreement shall not be affected.
GOVERNING LAW. This Agreement shall be construed (without regard to conflicts or choice of law principles) under the laws of the State of New York,
as such law is applied to agreements between New York residents entered into and to be performed within New York, except as governed by federal law.
Unless expressly waived by Licensor in writing for the particular instance or contrary to local law, the sole and exclusive jurisdiction and venue for actions
related to the subject matter hereof shall be the state and federal courts located in Licensor’s principal corporate place of business (New York County,
New York, U.S.A.). Both parties consent to the jurisdiction of such courts and agree that process may be served in the manner provided herein for giving
of notices or otherwise as allowed by New York state or federal law. The parties agree that the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of
Goods (Vienna, 1980) shall not apply to this Agreement or to any dispute or transaction arising out of this Agreement.

violations are subject to statutory penalties of up to $150,000 per violation. The Software contains certain licensed materials and Licensor’s licensors may
also protect their rights in the event of any violation of this Agreement. All rights not expressly granted to you herein are reserved by the Licensor.
LICENSE CONDITIONS. You agree not to:
(a) Commercially exploit the Software; (b) Distribute, lease, license, sell, rent or otherwise transfer or assign the Software, or any copies of the Software,
without the express prior written consent of Licensor or as set forth in this Agreement; (c) Make a copy of the Software or any part thereof (other than
as set forth herein); (d) Making a copy of this Software available on a network for use or download by multiple users; (e) Except as otherwise specifically
provided by the Software or this Agreement, use or install the Software (or permit others to do same) on a network, for on-line use, or on more than one
computer or gaming unit at the same time; (f) Copy the Software onto a hard drive or other storage device in order to bypass the requirement to run the
Software from the included CD-ROM or DVD-ROM (this prohibition does not apply to copies in whole or in part that may be made by the Software itself

that Licensor may offer you a separate site license agreement to make the Software available for commercial use; (h) Reverse engineer, decompile,

USER CREATED CONTENT: The Software may allow you to create content, including but not limited to a gameplay map, a scenario, screenshot of a
car design or a video of your game play. In exchange for use of the Software, and to the extent that your contributions through use of the Software give
rise to any copyright interest, you hereby grant Licensor an exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, fully transferable and sub-licensable worldwide right and
license to use your contributions in any way and for any purpose in connection with the Software and related goods and services, including the rights
to reproduce, copy, adapt, modify, perform, display, publish, broadcast, transmit, or otherwise communicate to the public by any means whether now
known or unknown and distribute your contributions without any further notice or compensation to you of any kind for the whole duration of protection
granted to intellectual property rights by applicable laws and international conventions. You hereby waive any moral rights of paternity, publication,
reputation, or attribution with respect to Licensor’s and other players’ use and enjoyment of such assets in connection with the Software and related
goods and services under applicable law. This license grant to Licensor, and the above waiver of any applicable moral rights, survives any termination
of this License.
INTERNET CONNECTION. The Software may require an internet connection to access internet-based features, authenticate the Software, or perform
other functions. In order for certain features of the Software to operate properly, you may be required to have and maintain (a) an adequate internet
connection and/or (b) a valid and active account with an online service as set forth in the Software documentation, including but not limited to Windows
Live, Licensor or a Licensor affiliate. If you do not maintain such accounts, then certain features of the Software may not operate or may cease to function
properly, either in whole or in part.
II. INFORMATION COLLECTION & USAGE. By installing and using this software, you consent to these information collection and usage terms,
including (where applicable) transfer of data to Licensor and affiliated companies into a country outside of the European Union and the European
Economic Area. If you connect to the Internet when using the Software, either through Xbox LIVE, PLAYSTATION Network, or any other method, Licensor
may receive information from hardware manufacturers or platform hosts (such as Microsoft or Sony) and may automatically collect certain information
from your computer or gaming unit. This information may include, but is not limited to, user IDs (such as gamer tags and screen names), game scores,
game achievements, game performance, locations visited, buddylists, hardware MAC address, internet protocol address, and your usage of various
game features. All information collected by Licensor is intended to be anonymous information that does not disclose your identity or constitute personal
information, however, if you include personal information (such as your real name) in your user ID, then such personal information will automatically be
transmitted to Licensor and used as described herein.
The information collected by Licensor may be posted by Licensor on publicly-accessible web sites, shared with hardware manufacturers, shared with
platform hosts, shared with Licensor’s marketing partners or used by Licensor for any other lawful purpose. By using this Software you consent to the
Licensor’s use of related data, including public display of your data such as identification of your user created content or displaying your scores, ranking,
achievements and other gameplay data. If you do not want your information shared in this manner, then you should not use the Software.

e Liberty City Marathon – A ranking of special physical milestones you’ve
achieved in the game – from the amount of miles walked, driven, or swam – to

all of the money you've ever earned in single-player-mode from completing

experience, marking the rst time ever that players can shop for soundtrack
music directly from a videogame itself. Gone are the days of hearing a song in
the soundtrack, looking it up in the manual, guring out which song it is, and
then having to search it out for purchase online or in a record store. Now with
this revolutionary service, you just hear the song in the game, tag it – and the
next time you visit your prole at the Social Club, it will be waiting there for
you to easily purchase as a digital-rights-free MP3 via Amazon.com’s digital
music store.
How to Access:
As soon as you’ve purchased and played Grand Theft Auto IV or any other
Rockstar title supported by the Social Club, you can gain entry into that
game’s designated area of the website.
You will need to make sure that you:
(a) are logged in to www.rockstargames.com/socialclub with a registered
and activated Social Club account
(b) have your Social Club account linked with your Games for Windows –
LIVE™ Gamertag
(c) have played a Rockstar Games Social Club supported videogame on a
network-enabled console or PC that is signed in to Games for Windows –
LIVE™ so that your gameplay data can been relayed to the Social Club
servers
(d) meet the age requirements for the game
After these steps, the Social Club will automatically start displaying relevant
data based on what you’ve done while playing the game (this can take up
to 48 hours or more for game data to propagate, so please be patient).

Multiplayer
is PC release of Grand e Auto IV is supported by a special, exclusive section
of the Social Club, taking advantage of the in-game video capture tools. Users will be
able to take video from within Grand e Auto IV PC, edit their footage and then
upload the nished video straight to Rockstar Games Social Club TV. An integrated
upload tool in Grand e Auto IV PC makes uploading content a snap. Both
registered users and unregistered users can stop by this video section to check out all
of the latest uploaded clips from Social Club members across the globe.
Other Features
With the arrival of the Message Wall, members will now have a place to communicate,
interact and talk trash with all other Social Club users. Every member has their own
personal “wall” which other users can “tag” with personal messages, as well as a variety
of individual stickers and custom grati designs.
You are able to import your buddy lists from Games for Windows – LIVE right into
the Social Club so you can start comparing statistics and achievements – and message
them directly within the website.
Registered players will be regularly treated to an on-going Liberty City experience
via the Social Club with special competitions, leaderboards and challenges as well as
features specic to this PC version release.

Custom Match
Another exciting new feature to Grand e Auto IV PC is Custom Match. When
you know which types of multiplayer matches you enjoy playing, you can select your
options and search for lobbies that t your criteria.
From the mobile phone, you can now choose Quick Match, Create Match, or Custom
Match. e interface for the Custom Match pops up in its own screen, similar to the
lobby interface.

e all new Video Editor feature allows you to capture in-game footage, make real
time edits and render those clips out as WMV movie les. e clips can also be spliced
together into a video complete with post eects like music, text and transitions, and
other features typically found in video editing suites. You can then share your video(s)
with others to view and rate in Rockstar Games Social Club TV.
Clip Capture
At any time during the game (single or multiplayer), press the F2 key to dump a
chunk of footage to your hard drive. Depending on how data intensive things are
in the world at that time, the clip should be about 30 to 40 seconds long. Captured
footage will be the action that occurs PRIOR to pressing F2. Note that if you have a
slower machine, you also have the option to turn o this feature altogether.
Launching the Video Editor
To launch the Video Editor, call it up using your in-game mobile phone. A prompt
will let you know that any unsaved data will be lost, aer which you jump into a
separate menu to view and edit your clips. You arrive at this screen with the following
choices:

Clips
All the raw footage you've captured in-game can be viewed quickly in the Clips section.
ere are standard DVD style controls for video playback. In addition, you can hold
down the right mouse buon to move the camera and view your clip from alternate
angles and then update your clip thumbnail making it easy to organize your clips.
Editor
Selecting Editor allows you to create a video from your raw clips. Here you can name
your video, string multiple clips together, add music, titles, and transitions.
Your raw footage clips appear on the le side of the screen. e upper right portion
of the screen is the storyboard editing space. Drag and drop your clip footage into the
storyboard to create a video. Double click a thumbnail on the storyboard to edit it.
You can add markers within your clips which allow you to place cameras and lters,
and adjust audio and speed seings.
To quickly create a video for upload, make sure you have at least one clip in the
storyboard editing space and then hit the Web option in Export To Gallery.
Gallery
e section labeled Gallery contains all of the complete, exported videos. By default,
the last exported video is displayed in the preview window. e thumbnails on the
right side of the screen are arranged with the most recent ones appearing at the top.
Upload
In the section labeled Upload, players can submit their exported web videos to the
Social Club. e le side of the screen shows local videos that you have created. e
right side is a web portal displaying all the videos that you have uploaded.
Online
e Online section will minimize Grand e Auto IV and will take you directly to
the Rockstar Games Social Club TV website using your default web browser. ere
you can view clips others have uploaded as well as rate clips and comment on them.
e Video Editor is a full featured tool. For more details, view the NA_LAM_

Independence FM.
Simply place your non DRM’ed MP3s, WMAs, or M4As (or shortcuts to your music
folders) in the le location below:
My Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\User Music
Note: Quicktime or iTunes needs to be installed for M4A support.
Aer accessing Indepedence FM as you would with any other in-game radio station,
you will also have the following options in the Audio tab of the Pause Menu:
Scanning Modes
Enable Auto Scan: Set this to ON to perform a Quick Scan automatically on game
startup.
Quick Scan: Reads the audio les within your folder and plays back exactly as they
are in the folder.
Complete Scan: Reads the audio les within your folder and performs additional
analysis to enhance user experience.
Play Modes
Sequential: Plays through audio les as they appear in your folder – can skip songs.
Shue: Plays through audio les randomly – can skip songs.
Radio: Plays through audio les randomly with radio adverts and DJ banter in
between tracks – cannot skip songs.
