The Department of Accessibility Services (DAS) is also available to assist student’s with more severe allergies where
a dining accommodation might be necessary. If you feel you have a medical need please follow the instructions
provided on the DAS website.
DINING PLAN EXEMPTION
All students residing at Oxford College are required to enroll in one of Oxford’s meal plans.
Accommodations for dining and exceptions to the dining policies and requirements are considered on a case-by-
case basis. Exemptions requested by the Department of Accessibility Services (DAS) are generally the only
exemptions that will be granted.
Students wishing to apply for a meal plan exemption or other dining accommodation, must register with DAS, who is
part of the Office of Equity and Inclusion at: http://accessibility.emory.edu/students/index.html DAS assists
qualified students with obtaining a variety of services and ensures that all matters of equal access, reasonable
accommodation, and compliance are properly addressed.
Medical appeals are the only type of appeals guaranteed by DAS for dining accommodations and must clearly show
why the student is medically unable to eat the food provided by Oxford Dining.
All DAS Verification forms can be found at http://accessibility.emory.edu/students/new-to-oas/forms.html
If your medical appeal is approved, DAS will notify the Director of Auxiliary Operations for Oxford College, who
oversees the Oxford Dining program. The Director of Auxiliary Operations will update your dining plan and request
any updates needed to the charges on your OPUS account.
Medical appeals are only valid during the academic year in which it is granted. Those granted a medical appeal must
reapply for each academic year.
WITHDRAWALS
Students withdrawing from Oxford may be eligible for a dining refund.
Refunds for meal plans are prorated on the date of withdrawal/termination as provided by enrollment services.
Meal swipes are prorated on a daily rate basis.
To properly withdraw from a dining plan, students should send an email from their Emory email account to
OxfordDining@emory.edu. Emails must include your name, Student ID number, and a written request in the
message. Once the request has been completed the student will receive a confirmation email to their Emory
account.
IN CASE OF ILLNESS
If Oxford College Student Health Services has placed you in quarantine or recommended that you isolate for a
period of time, they will contact us and provide your name, a start date, and an end date for your isolation
period. During this time, you can ask your RA, roommate, or another proxy to pack a to-go meal from the Oxford
Dining Hall on your behalf.
o You can look at the day's menu, in advance, and let them know what you'd like
o For the safety and security of your EmoryCard, please do not allow someone else to use your EmoryCard
o To pick up your meals, your proxy will simply notify the cashier that they are picking up a meal for
you. They will provide their name & student ID# on the sheet provided to them by the cashier and we will
log the date & meal being picked up (i.e. breakfast, lunch, or dinner.)
o At the end of the week or the end of your isolation period, whichever comes first, your meal plan will be
charged for each of the meals that were picked up on your behalf.
For non-COVID-related illnesses, when you are just feeling too ill to make it to the dining hall, please contact your RA
or RLC. The RLC for your residence hall will then send us your name and student ID# and work with you to arrange
for a roommate, friend, or another proxy to pack a to-go meal on your behalf. They do not need your Emory
Card. Your meal plan will be charged for any meals picked up on your behalf as authorized by your RLC.
