Waiver
Oklahoma Public University Average Annual In-State Tuition Cost (2020)

The Oklahoma National Guard Tuition Waiver is established as an incentive for qualified individuals. A
student who is a member of the Oklahoma Air National Guard shall be eligible for a full-resident tuition
waiver. A resident tuition waiver covers the cost of resident tuition for all courses for which resident
tuition is charged. A student may receive a waiver for a max of 18 semester credit hours each
semester, up to a bachelor’s degree. The Tuition Waiver can be used at Oklahoma state-funded
colleges in Oklahoma.
Things to keep in mind:
•Not available if you already have a bachelor’s degree
•This only covers tuition. It does not cover any fees associated with the school.
•Your GPA can not fall below 2.0 or you may not be eligible to receive this benefit.

Montgomery GI Bill Chap. 1606
The Montgomery GI Bill - Selected Reserve is an education program that provides up to 36 months of
education benefits to members of the Selected Reserve. This Money can be spent on: Food, Books,
Shoes, etc… (This is only available after the completion of Technical Training.)

Post 9/11 GI Bill Chap. 33
The Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) helps you pay for school or job training. If you’ve
served on active duty after September 10, 2001, you may qualify. Benefits are
based on aggregate, honorable service and may include tuition, a monthly housing
allowance and annual books/supplies stipend. Tuition and fees paid by the VA will
not exceed the most expensive in-state public institution of higher education. The
monthly housing allowance will be equal to the BAH amount payable to a U.S. Air
Force staff sergeant with dependents for the zip code of the school. The
book/supplies stipend will not exceed $1000 per year. There are several
stipulations to receiving the full tuition, BAH, and/or book stipend; therefore,
members should review the criteria carefully.

90 DAYS)

Other State Benefits
OKLAHOMA INCOME TAX
- The first $1,500 received as salary for service in the United States Armed Forces shall be deducted
from taxable income. The Oklahoma Tax Commission may, according to the provisions set forth, grant
an e
xtension to any member of the United States Armed Forces when filing is impractical.
STATE TAXES
- Effective July 1, 2010 through current, an Oklahoma resident who is a member of any component
of the Armed Services may exclude 100% of his/her taxable active duty military pay. This includes
R
eserve and National Guard pay.
100% MOTOR VEHICLE TAX EXEMPTION
- The exemption may be claimed on only one vehicle in a consecutive three year period by any single
qualifying Veteran. The exemption applies to motor vehicles only. It does not apply to boats or motors.
The e
xemption does not apply to surviving Spouses of qualified Veterans. Eligibility: The qualifying
Veteran must be listed on the title as an owner of the vehicle. Additional owners may also be present.
The vehicle must have been purchased on or after July 1, 2005.
