RE: Commencement Exercises for the Class of 2022
Dear Parent/Guardian:
As you know, the school year is rapidly coming to a close, and commencement will soon be upon us.
We know that you are looking forward to seeing your child graduate; the culmination of 13 years of
hard work for both of you. Congratulations, we are almost there!
This year’s commencement ceremony will be held outdoors on June 22nd at 10:00am here at Louis
M. Bartha Stadium at John F. Kennedy Memorial High School. Two commencement practices are
presently scheduled for June 17 & 21, 2022. In order to participate in the ceremony on June 22

each student must be present and participate in both practices. Students must cooperate and
adhere to all school policies. If it becomes necessary to discipline a student during commencement
practice, that student will be denied the opportunity to participate. We are also reserving the right to
deny participation on the day of commencement if, in our opinion, the student is not in full
possession of his or her faculties due to alcohol or any other controlled substance.
On the day of commencement, the graduates must arrive on campus by 8am. Guests will be
admitted into the stadium at entrances marked as “Spectator Entrance” beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Tickets are not required for this year’s outdoor graduation. However, each graduate will be
given two tickets in the event the weather prohibits us from holding the ceremony outdoors and we
have to move the ceremony into our gymnasium. Due to room capacity limits, we cannot allow more
than two tickets per graduate. Please note that the building will not be open to anyone after the
ceremony.

Graduation Guidelines
Recommend Dress
▪ Shirt and tie; dress pants, dress shoes
▪ Dress; skirt & blouse, dress shoes
Items Which Are Prohibited
▪ Jeans, shorts and coveralls
▪ Work boots, work shoes, slides, or flip flops
▪ Bare feet
▪ T-shirts, tank tops, polo shirts and sweatshirts
▪ Corsages
▪ Bags, backpacks, pocketbooks
▪ Water bottles (water will be provided)
▪ CELL PHONES

▪ Must be school appropriate
▪ NO reference to: alcohol, drugs, political statements, etc.
It is our belief that students and parents feel that the manner in which students dress contributes to
the dignity of the commencement exercises. Therefore, all participating students are expected to
adhere to this student dress code. Those who do not feel that they can abide by this code of dress
are given the option of not participating in the commencement exercises.
Those students who report to school for participation in the graduation exercises, and whose dress
violates this code, shall be removed from the procession and prohibited from participating.
