The Élan (French for “dashing, spirit”) double rifle is built around the
svelte, traditional lines of the firearms carried in the golden age of African
safaris. It features either a laser-engraved scalloped boxlock action
(Classic grade) or hand-engraved sideplates (Artisan grade), with a classic
stock sporting a cheekpiece and a tasteful recoil-soaking rubber pad.
The Circassian walnut is hand-selected, as with all Chapuis premium guns.
The barrels are topped by a rib that gives you the traditional graduated
V-shaped express sights as well as the option to attach EAW or Recknagel
scope mounts with no modification. Chapuis double rifles have earned a
rightful reputation as some of the most reliable and durable of their kind,
making them a favorite among African professionals.
The Élan double rifles comes standard in two hard-hitting
rimmed cartridges for absolutely positive extraction.

The All-Purpose Double Rifle
Iphisi Double Rifle
The Iphisi is embellished with several exquisite
touches. The glossy blue top lever, triggerguard
and grip-cap make a fine contrast with the
marble-like colorcase finish of the receiver.
A discrete but beautiful scroll engraving borders
the receiver as well as the barrels, forend latch,
grip-cap, tang, and top rib. On the receiver’s
underside, the model name is enclosed in an
engraved Zulu warrior’s shield, in conformity
with the spirit of this rifle.
Lastly, we have made the Iphisi easy and
convenient to scope. The top rib is machined
to accept Talley rings. Make sure you select
a model that tightens through an Allen key,
since the barrels would get in the way of the
fins of a quick-detachable model. For best
results, please select high or extra-high
model rings.
In his immortal work African Rifles and Cartridges, John “Pondoro”
Taylor speaks of what he considers the ideal all-purpose rifle for the
ambitious hunter: his choice is a scoped .375 H&H double rifle, light
enough to be pleasant to carry but still heavy enough to be pleasant to
shoot. It is in this spirit that Chapuis has created the Iphisi double rifle,
available in the powerful and versatile .375 H&H (.375 Belted Rimless
Magnum). If a hunter already possesses a bolt rifle in .375 H&H, the
Iphisi takes the same cartridge, oering the additional advantage of
ammo compatibility.
The Iphisi (isiZulu for “big-game hunter”) is a beautiful, yet no-nonsense
double rifle designed to be the ultimate all-around companion for any
hunting adventure worldwide. Built around the vault-like, proven Chapuis
AGEX action, it features sleek, classic lines, a handsome colorcase
receiver with minimal engraving, a AAA-grade Circassian walnut stock
with English-style cheekpiece, and traditional three-leaf express sights.
In addition, the Iphisi is machined to accept readily-available Talley
rings, so that the user can easily mount his favorite scope. The sleek
26" barrels come regulated for the Hornady 300gr DGX factory load,
but thanks to Chapuis’ patented regulating mechanism, a competent
gunsmith can easily re-regulate it for a hunter’s favorite combination.
In sum, the Iphisi was conceived from the ground up to be handsome,
durable, reliable, and eminently suited to take any game on Planet Earth
under most conditions.

DOUBLE RIFLES
This is the basis of the X4’s technology: the right
barrel is discretely free-floated from both the left
barrel and the central rib. An adjustable ring holds the
barrels together at the muzzles and may be tweaked
by a competent gunsmith to re-regulate the point of
convergence of the shots.
Pick up a Chapuis X4 double rifle and you’ll feel like you are hold-
ing a little jewel. Built on a sub-gauge shotgun action and sporting
lightweight 22” barrels, the X4 is perfect for the hunter looking for a
quick-handling, light and trim double rifle. Originally conceived for
European-style driven game, this big rifle in a small package is oered
in the hard-hitting 9.3x74R and the versatile .30-06 chamberings.
But in spite of its classic lines, scroll engraving, and beautiful grade-3
Circassian walnut with English-style cheekpiece, the X4 ushers in a
new patented technology that makes it unique and uniquely-versatile.
As most double-rifle aficionados know, the slightest alteration in load,
bullet weight, bullet shape—and sometimes even the addition of a
scope—can upset the original regulation of the barrels. Re-regulation
is a fairly complex process involving re-soldering and re-bluing the
barrels. With the X4, Chapuis has solved this age-old problem by free-
floating the right barrel: a guiding ring at the muzzles can be adjusted
by a professional gunsmith to make the barrels converge with your new
load—with no alteration whatsoever to the rifle.
What this means is that the X4 is always ready for your next hog,
whitetail, bear, elk or eland—scoped or unscoped. And it gives you the
confidence that your favorite load will always fly true to where you aim.

The Chasseur comes in two grades: Classic (laser engraved,

With the straight-pull concept making a resurgence, Chapuis has
entered the fray with the superlative ROLS rifle. Developed in the
course of four years, the ROLS action was designed to be strong,
fast, light and—just as importantly—perfectly safe. When the bolt
is driven home, the innovative locking mechanism causes a series
of sturdy cantilever “petals” to open front-to-back against a robust
recess in the barrel extension: this forms a massive, rearward bearing
surface capable of resisting to test-pressures up to 123,000 PSI.
Available in a variety of calibers and configurations, the ROLS sports
a quick-detachable rotary magazine, a manual decocker, as well as a
mechanism to easily change barrels and calibers if so desired (additional
barrels, calibers and configurations available only by special order).
In addition, the rifle’s receiver comes machined for the world-class
Recknagel scope mounting system, available as an accessory.
Lightning fast to operate, absolutely safe, great-looking and unique,
the ROLS is for the big-game hunter who values premium quality,
quick follow-up shots, superb accuracy, versatility, portability,
as well as the chance to stand out from the pack.
The ROLS features a smooth-feeding, detachable rotary magazine. The magazine is
designed so as to eliminate the possibility of accidental release: to remove it, a button
must be pressed to open the trigger floorplate, which then gives access to the magazine.
Loading the magazine can be done after performing this operation, or simply from the top
when the magazine is inserted in the rifle.

The ROLS Deluxe oers all the features of the standard models, plus a
superior finish. The stock is grade 4 Circassian walnut, which we select
from centuries-old, perfectly seasoned samples from our exclusive
supplier. The stock is sanded and oil-finished to highlight the rich grain
pattern of this premium wood.
The receiver is made of ultralight Fortal 7075 alloy, anodized in grey
color and laser-engraved on both sides with game scenes specially
drawn by one of our master engravers. The grip-cap opens and gives
you access to the multi-purpose takedown tool, which (among other
things) may be used to detach the barrel from the action. Many hunters
take advantage of this feature to make the rifle less bulky when traveling.
